Wave Academy serves active duty military and veterans who are diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and are on a service-related disability. We work with veterans from all conflicts and eras. We also serve family members and caregivers involved with their recovery. Veterans and caregivers who have participated in our program report improved quality of sleep, decreased pain, lower levels of anxiety and a better quality of life.
“Before the therapy sessions, I couldn’t get control of the way I was thinking and was filled with thoughts of suicide, depression, stress, anger, fear, resentment and guilt. Wave Academy has been the most beneficial for my recovery. “
James Moreno, Marine Corps veteran
All across this country, we have communities in crisis.
- Of the more than 2 million service men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, data indicates that 20-35 percent have come home with PTS
- Approx. 1,000 veterans of these wars are diagnosed with PTS every week.
- There are tens of thousands of families struggling with the devastating effects of PTS, which left untreated, can result in alcoholism, debilitating depression and suicide – evidenced by the alarming statistic that 22 veterans commit suicide every day in the U.S.
And here in San Diego – home to one of the largest military populations in the country – the demand for our services is growing exponentially.
