To all of our friends, supporters, donors, Heroes, partners, and many, many more – we wish you a joyous and successful 2020!
2020 promises to be an important year for Wave Academy as we embark on a strategic planning process to identify our visions and goals for the next five years. In the next month you will hear more about this and be invited to participate as valued stakeholders.
We also invite you to joins us at our 2020 events:
May 24th: Third annual Waves for the Brave 5K held at Liberty Station.
Nov. 6th: Third annual Waves of Support Dinner at the harbor.
Wave Academy had a wonderful 2019 – we increased our staff size by two, held three incredible and successful events, established new and fruitful partnerships, all while continuing to serve our community’s active-duty, veterans, and caregivers suffering from PTSD.
Our two new staff members – Sean McGinty, the Outreach and Communications Coordinator, and Chelsey Hinrichsen, the Administrative Manager, have increased Wave Academy’s capabilities and successes.
The second annual Waves for the Brave 5K, our Summer Open House, and the second annual Waves of Support Dinner all brought the kind of enthusiasm and encouragement any non-profit could ever hope for from a dedicated community of supporters.
In 2019 we were very lucky to establish new partnerships with military and veteran organizations, such as the Navy’s OASIS active-duty inpatient PTSD treatment center, the USS Midway Foundation, Navy Medical Center San Diego’s Surf Clinic, the National Resource Directory, and a plethora of corporate supporters and sponsors.
In October, Wave Academy had the pleasure of relocating to the San Diego United Way building, to be amongst many like-minded non-profit organizations and maximize our community impact.
We did all of these things in pursuit of our noble mission: to provide healing aquatic therapy to service members, veterans, and caregivers who suffer from PTSD. All of our actions and all of our resources support that singular goal.
So thank you for being a part of that! We treasure all of our friends who were with us through 2019 and look forward to carrying all of last year’s successes and support through 2020!
