Carlos “Danny” Carreón is a Chula Vista resident, retired from the U.S. NAVY after 26-years in 2011, and a graduate of National University with a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security & Emergency Management, and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. His career is distinguished with assignments aboard multiple classes of combatant ships, major staff tours, expeditionary deployments, humanitarian, counter-piracy and counter narcotics operations including joint and coalition combat operations during OIF/OEF.
Adopted as a guiding principle during his military career and carried into civilian life, Danny embraced the words of author Stephen Mansfield, “There is honor and nobility in service to a cause greater than self”. Active in community volunteerism he served as an American Red Cross, government liaison officer working along side fire, law enforcement, municipalities, and community partners during disaster response and recovery operations coordinating community evacuations, shelter, water, food, and reunification. He has held positions on the Board of Directors for the Association of Continuity Professionals – San Diego Chapter, served as national veteran representative, Chairman for the Us For Warriors Foundation, and played a leading role establishing the City of Chula Vista, Veteran Resource Center for which he was selected as City Veteran of the Year 2017-2018.
