Healing Wave Aquatics (formerly Wave Academy) is seeking a Wellness Specialist who has a background in behavioral health, understands how to help clients who are dealing with trauma, and has an interest in learning about aquatic therapy. We are looking for a dedicated team member to join our growing organization.
The mission of Healing Wave Aquatics is to help active duty military and veterans heal from post-traumatic stress through a trauma-informed program of aquatic therapy. We also serve caregivers to support whole family wellness.
Healing Wave Aquatics has a new position for a Wellness Specialist who will be responsible as they key point of contact with clients. The Wellness Specialist will have an understanding about working with clients who have PTSD or trauma, and help manage their path through our program.
Responsibilities:
Outreach
Perform outreach to the veteran and military community to bring awareness of our program to potential clients;
Schedule presentations: military and veteran groups, partners and organizations in healthcare, government, and new client groups;
Build relationships with local organizations to bring new partners to Healing Wave Aquatics;
Client Wellness Liaison
Become a key point of contact for clients who apply to our program;
Manage onboarding the client: application, eligibility, collecting and submitting documents as needed.
Manage orientation/onboarding process, including 45-minute video orientation, assessments, and screening;
Identify practitioner for client and work with the practitioner to support client’s needs.
Monitor client progression through the program;
Wellness Program Management
Manage client database, including data entry and reporting on client demographics, program retention, and trends.
Analyze PTSD assessment data, providing reports about trends and client outcomes;
Provide input about client needs and experience to inform program practices;
Conduct follow along and follow up services to current and former participants.
Skills and Attributes Needed:
Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience in client outreach, client wellness, client education, behavioral coaching or client management.
Interest in behavioral health, wellness and serving our veteran community.
Knowledge of trauma and evidence-based health education research.
Nonprofit experience and/or experience in philanthropy a plus.
Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
Thorough ability to communicate effectively with clients and practitioners to provide coordinated wellness.
Strong organizational, critical thinking, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, practice strong time management, set priorities, and demonstrate high productivity in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare setting.
Ability to work flexible hours.

The Wellness Specialist reports to the Executive Director. Position is full time. Benefits include: flexible scheduling, 26 total days of time off (13 holidays and 13 days of PTO), reimbursement of health care insurance costs, and one complimentary aquatic therapy float session annually. Our new facility and offices will open in Rose Canyon in the fall where there is free parking and a modern office environment. Currently, our work is remote during the pandemic. Occasional evenings and weekends required. Salary: $23-$28 per hour.
